Master 2019 - Mr Peter English
Born in Rainham, Essex.
Peter left Chaffords School in Rainham Essex in 1966 and started work in the Insurance World in London for an Insurance Broker then named Tudor & Co.
He then moved on to work for various Insurance Broking Houses.
In 1989 he was appointed Managing Director of Pearson Webb Springbett PLC.
He left “PWS” in 1995 and joined Aon as a Managing Director of the International Division traveling many parts of the World producing business for Lloyd’s of London and the London Insurance Market.
Peter retired from Aon in 2005 and later spent 3 years as a Consultant Development Director at Thompson Heath Bond before completely retiring in 2010.
He married Glenda in 1976 and they have a daughter Sian, and a son Grant, both of whom are involved with the “Worshipful Company of Loriners” as a Liveryman and Freeman respectively.
Glenda and Peter live in Kent in a village called Hempstead and they have four grandchildren.
Peter spent several years learning to ride with his children and assisting at Pony Camp when they were young.
He spent three years as Chairman of the PTA for the Rochester Girls’ Grammar School in the early 1990’s.
Peter is a keen sportsman and his main sport now is golf being a member of two clubs, Royal Cinque Ports and The Ridge where he was Club Captain in 2010.
He also enjoys watching football, rugby, cricket, tennis and athletics.
His other hobbies include reading, the theatre and concerts.
